As far back as I can remember, I have always loved the Arcachon Basin—that immediate reconnection with nature, the scent of warm sand and pine trees. I was only a few months old when I first discovered Bertic Beach in Claouey, Lège-Cap-Ferret, during vacations at my grandparents’ home.
As a child and then a teenager, I loved this strong connection to nature, the range of temperatures unique to the basin—from sometimes cool mornings to bright days—the rhythm of the tides, and the exploration of its unique landscapes. Cap Ferret: A Source of Inspiration for Mangrose
My memories immediately transport me to the Cap Ferret peninsula during the February holidays. Living in the Paris region at the time, these trips were an opportunity to revisit the bay and enjoy long bike rides between Lège and Cap Ferret, through the heart of the pine forest.
I particularly remember the scent of the mimosas that blanketed the peninsula and illuminated the forests with their vibrant shades of yellow. This simple, wild, and deeply soothing natural landscape already moved me then and continues to nourish the world of Mangrose today.
Cap Ferret remains a major source of inspiration for the brand: its ancient pine forests facing the ocean, its oyster huts, its elegant wooden villas hidden among the vegetation, and the pinasse boats peacefully gliding along the shores of the basin all come together to create a unique aesthetic. This natural, luminous, and timeless atmosphere directly inspires Mangrose’s original creations and designs.

Seahorses of the Arcachon Basin
Small, delicate, and unassuming creatures, seahorses inhabit the Arcachon Basin, home to one of the largest populations in mainland France. They find refuge in seagrass beds, to which they cling and where they reproduce.
Vulnerable to climate change and deteriorating water quality, seahorses now face a threat to their habitat. However, conservation programs are helping to protect them within the basin.
A mysterious and poetic creature, the seahorse inspires several Mangrose designs and symbolizes the fragile beauty of the Arcachon Basin’s marine biodiversity.
Oysters and the Marine World
Oysters have been present for centuries in the heart of the Arcachon Basin, where they naturally contribute to water filtration and ecological balance. Oyster farming remains an integral part of the basin’s identity and the lives of the oyster farmers of Cap Ferret.
Mangrose has chosen to interpret this marine world in a poetic and graphic way through several original creations. The oysters become true miniature landscapes evoking the basin, the ocean, the dunes, the pine trees, and the birds emblematic of the Mangrose universe.

The Villas of Cap Ferret
Oyster huts, wooden villas nestled in the pine forest, and the famous stilted huts are all part of the iconic landscapes of Cap Ferret and the Arcachon Basin.
This elegant, simple architecture, deeply connected to nature, has inspired several Mangrose designs centered on the villas of Cap Ferret. Each design evokes a home open to nature, bordered by water and surrounded by vegetation, where a pinasse glides peacefully along the shore.
These designs pay homage to the unique and timeless aesthetic of the basin.
I love the Arcachon Bay and Cap Ferret because they awaken all my senses: the shifting light throughout the day, the scent of pine trees and mimosas in February, the briny notes of the ocean and oysters, the warm sand on my skin, and the lapping of the water carried by the tides. Everything here is alive, full of contrast, powerful, and soothing all at once.
A brand committed to biodiversity
Mangrose draws inspiration from biodiversity and the natural world to create original, meaningful designs. Through its collections, the brand also supports various organizations dedicated to protecting nature and wildlife, including the Jane Goodall Institute, Coral Gardeners, WWF, Pollinis, and Le Refuge.
